Thank you for downloading! This is the first driveable tank for OP-WWI, the French Renault FT-17. This tank was built many months ago but I never really got around to finishing it until now, and I'm glad it's finally done. :) ------------------------------------- CONTENTS: ------------------------------------- Here's a rundown of the contents of this add-on. -> A fully driveable WWI tank, complete with authentic sound effects, damage effects and damage model, a mannable gun turret position, detailed cockpit interior and a nice battle weathered skin. This tank is SLOW, as it was in real. Don't expect to squeeze more than 10mph out of her. The tank was designed to accompany troops on the battle and move alongside them so this explains the slow speed, that, and the fact that it weighs 7 tons and is powered by a meagre 35 hp engine! There are also two training missions included that cover driving techniques and basic gunnery and 8 more 'real' missions that pit you against the ENEMY...when you're ready, of course. ;) This download also includes four static ground objects, for use in the training missions and of course, for you to make your own missions! :) -> FT17 Static unit: basically a static non-driveable version of this tank that the AI can shoot from. Useful in missions where you'd like to oppose the FT17 in another vehicle/plane and have the FT17 actually shoot back at you under AI control, or in offline missions where you'd like some support from extra FT17s. -> Crates:> perfect for target practice. -> German barricade: this nasty little unit is essentially two German soldiers equipped with K98 rifles kneeling down behind a pile of rubble. -> French Barricade: basically like the German one, but the soldiers have French uniform, speak native French tongue, and one of the soldiers has an AT rifle. ----------------------------------- RECOMMENDED ADD-ONS ----------------------------------- There are some OP-WWI (Openplane-WWI) add-ons that I strongly recommend you have installed in your game before trying all the training missions for the FT17. If you don't have the add-ons listed below, then some of the training missions included for this tank will not work because you won't have the required ground objects and/or aircraft and terrain for the missions to use. However please note that the tank and the ground objects supplied in this FT17 download do NOT require these add-ons below to work if you make your own missions or run the two basic training missions included (except for Nations v2 which is essential), only some of the training missions for the FT17 require them. However I DO recommend you get these add-ons and try the scenarios included with this tank, they are truly works of art. You NEED this add-on installed: - Nations v2 The following add-ons are required for some of the FT17 training missions to work but not essential for tank operation in your own custom missions: - WWI Pack 2 - WWI Pack 2 Patch - Somme Terrain - Somme Terrain Update 2 If you need help with all this stuff said here, email me! (address below) For more information on where to get these add-ons, visit: http://ftp2.progeng.com/opwwi/start.asp Also, be sure to visit the WWI Forum at www.fightersquadron.com and also the SDOE Forum at www.simhq.com for more updates and happenings in the wonderful world of OP-WWI! ------------------------------------ INSTALLATION: ------------------------------------ Following are instructions on how to install this add-on. PLEASE follow them carefully. 1. -> Copy and paste the "media" folder in this download over your existing "media" folder in your SDOE install. 2. -> Next, make sure you have this line in your keyboard.inp file (add it to the end of the file's contents if it's not there): cmdCanopyToggle = Q This line enables you to swing open the driver's view slit hatch for a better outside view. See the training missions for more information. 3. -> Now open "sounds.ppf" in your media folder and add these lines under very last lines that already exist: sndRifle1 ( parmFilename "Rifle" parmdB 400 parmPriority 150 ) sndRifle2 ( parmFilename "Rifle2" parmdB 400 parmPriority 150 ) sndFrHalt1 ( parmFilename "FrHalt1" parmdB 400 parmPriority 150 ) sndGHalt1 ( parmFilename "GHalt1" parmdB 400 parmPriority 150 ) These lines enable the custom sound effects for the German and French barricade objects included in this download. ***NOTE*** If you don't already have a sounds.ppf file in your media folder, use the one that is included in this download, but ***ONLY*** use the sounds.ppf file included in this download if you don't already have a sounds.ppf in your media folder! That's it! Now start SDOE and enjoy! (as before, if you need assistance with anything said here, contact me) ---------------------------------- CREDITS: ---------------------------------- Here are the great people who contributed to this add-on, in no particular order. - Chaps: contributed by making some excellent training missions: "The Chemical Plant", "Attack on Marquion", "The Headquarters", "The Airport at Neuville", "Rescue the POWs!", "Rolling the Cambrai Flank" and "Breakthrough at the Forest". - Scorpion Rouge: for making the base 3d model and textures. - RVW: Ok, I've learned how to do shadows myself now, but RVW still is the main man for getting them 100%! He helped me by fixing the flickering in the shadow I made. - The testers!: Chaps and ArgonV, you guys did a great job testing this tank out. Cheers. - I, (Harman_5): for getting the 3d model in game and moving/shooting like it should and doing the extras like cockpit/interior work and some texture tweaking, adding, smoothing the model, weathering the skin, etc, etc. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I welcome feedback and comments, send them to: Harman_5@dingoblue.net.au ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Renault FT-17 Driveable Tank version 1.0.
